A Married Couple Worries About Their Excessive And Irresponsible Drinking And Contemplates Whether They Exhibit Any Signs Of Alcohol Addiction

Angie and Lenny have been married for six years. They wanted to have some excitement and fun before they decided to have some kids and so they consciously developed an incredibly vibrant social life.

The primary problem, it needs to be highlighted, is that just about everything they do socially somehow includes drinking. For instance, all of the sporting events, dinner engagements, family get-togethers, parties with friends, and happy hours they frequent are related to drinking.

If they were infrequent drinkers this wouldn't be a major problem. Because they drink in an excessive manner, however, they are beginning to notice some definite alcohol-related issues in their lives.

For example, just a week ago Lenny received a second DUI and has been calling off from work because of alcohol-related health problems. Not only this, but Lenny's last two performance evaluations at the office have been less than passable and he has started to fail to remember what he does or says while he drinks. As a final point, Lenny has been experiencing sleep-related problems and his family is starting to get nervous about his drinking circumstances.

Not unlike Lenny's situation, Angie has been feeling depressed with things in her life and to deal with this, she has been drinking more habitually than any time in the past year. What is more, Angie has been experiencing quite a few throbbing migraine headaches and having terrible hangovers due to her drinking. Lastly, Angie has been feeling significantly less active in the morning, she has been showing up late for work, and she has been receiving some damaging criticism from her coworkers, friends, relatives, and family members about her careless drinking.

One Thursday evening while watching TV, Lenny and Angie without any planning whatsoever discovered a documentary about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about the signs of alcoholism in particular. This television special was a real shock to Lenny and Angie because more than a few of the alcohol facts that were listed seemed like they were undeniably associated with more than a few of the drinking problems Angie and Lenny had been suffering through.

With thoughts of the TV special still running through her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcoholism signs they have been manifesting could mean that they are alcohol dependent or conceivably becoming alcoholic. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's inquiry and so he suggested that they schedule an appointment with one of the healthcare practitioners at the local substance abuse treatment center to find out more about the severity of their drinking issues.

Strangely enough, even though their drinking situation hadn't yet changed, it was obvious that Angie and Lenny were at the very least addressing their drinking problems, they were ready to find out more about their drinking situation, and they were interested in finding out how they could significantly lessen or get rid of the alcohol-related difficulties that had started to escalate.

When Lenny and Angie went to bed that night, they determined that the next afternoon, Lenny would call and schedule an appointment for both of them at the drug and alcohol treatment clinic located in the middle of town. After they promised one another that they would do whatever it takes to conquer the drinking issues that had cropped up in their lives, they in point of fact had the most revitalizing night's sleep they could remember in the last year.
