A Young Male Drinks Carelessly, Gets Inspired To Get Treatment For Depression And Alcohol Dependency, And Enhances His Life

Ralph started drinking excessively when he was in the tenth grade. From a positive perspective, although he drank abusively when he was a teenager and a young adult, when he got beyond the age of twenty-five he almost always drank in moderation.

After he finished his education he eventually landed a job at a local pet food manufacturer where he worked his way up from stock person, to office assistant, to purchasing assistant, to purchasing agent. Unlike his other work positions, as the purchasing manager he repeatedly took existing vendors and potential vendors to lunch and to a variety of sporting events.

Although it was not written in stone, meeting with potential vendors and existing vendors time after time involved situations in which alcohol was present. In truth, over the past fifteen months, Ralph had begun to considerably increase his social and his work-related drinking. This has resulted in quite a quandary. To be precise, the more successful he became as a purchasing agent, the more heavily he began to drink.

In truth, it did not take much time at all before Ralph's abusive drinking started to adversely affect his work efficiency, his health, his relationships, his mental health, and the money in his savings account. After many weeks of excessive drinking, Ralph, in truth, started to get worried about his drinking problem and wondered whether his alcohol-related concerns were alcoholism signs. Moreover, his almost constant feelings of depression also made him wonder if he was becoming an alcohol dependent individual. In a word, Ralph obviously needed to learn more about the facts about alcohol abuse and the signs of alcoholism.

So Ralph used his common sense, called his health care practitioner, and made an appointment for a complete physical exam. A week later after seeing his family doctor, Ralph unfortunately found out that he was addicted to alcohol. His physician informed Ralph that he needed to get alcohol detox and alcohol treatment for his alcoholism and that he also needed to get a medical assessment regarding his depression. In a word, Ralph needed treatment for his alcohol dependency and depression.

His family doctor suggested to Ralph that he request a two-month leave of absence from work and get admitted into a quality in-patient alcohol rehabilitation program where he could also be treated for his depression. This is exactly what Ralph did. The positive news is that after his treatment for depression and for alcohol addiction, he felt like a new individual. In truth, now that he was sober he hardly ever got depressed and he now understood how to more productively and efficiently manage his job, his health, his relationships, and his finances.

Not surprisingly, the biggest test Ralph came across was at the office. More specifically, he still took potential vendors and his existing vendors to lunch and to various sporting events, but after his alcohol treatment he managed to refrain from drinking while entertaining his clients.

It can be emphasized that Ralph also learned that none of his existing vendors or potential vendors thought any less of him because of his abstinence. Alternatively, he discovered that his potential vendors and existing vendors respected him for staying true to his convictions.

After Ralph went through alcohol rehab he found out that if he abstained from drinking, all of the other significant parts of his life would be enhanced. At times, it may be noted, Ralph missed drinking, but the better finances, health, relationships, and the better work performance he experienced more than offset his craving for alcohol.
