What would happen in the above "ideal" society, furthermore, if teens not only got top quality coping skills education but also obtained an exceptional education that accentuated the short term and long term injurious consequences associated with drug abuse and alcohol abuse? Emphasizing these teenage alcohol and drug abuse facts, along with more advanced coping skills education, it is emphasized, would help adolescents keep away from the apparent attraction with underage drinking and, as a consequence, would drastically decrease the excessive drinking behavior undertaken by the youth in our country.
There are without a doubt many defensible reasons why so many of our teenagers drink in an abusive manner. Such a thorny problem demands an all-inclusive and more meaningful response by our politicians, educators, students, and parents so that our youth can learn how to cope with life's problems in a more fruitful and responsible way rather than resorting to hazardous and abusive drinking to solve their difficulties.
